Well i did book keeping which you will need to know in accountancy, and you will prob need to study a sage 50 course. Most up to date programme used in book keeping. If you keep ya head in the books you could learn the whole of sage in just under a year i think. i did it in a year. Good luck and keep at it, great money in accountancy, well worth the work when you get paid the right money!! I just wanted to add Snakey B is correct but if you don't do a prope degree in in it you will only be able to take the salary offered in the job placment. If you have all the right degrees in all the correct sectors you can negotiate your salary. In other words take the salary you think you are worth which should be 80 grand a year, but it will take you a good few years to get there. But would you rather be on 40 or 80 grand p/a? I know which 1 id go for lol

You don't have to do accountancy at University to be an accountant. When you join an accountancy firm you will be on a three-year training contract at the end of which you will have a professional accountancy qualification (ACA, usually). After that, nobody will ever even ask you what subject your degree was in. You need to concentrate on getting a 2:1 in a good subject (i.e. an academic subject) at the best University that you can get into. I know accountants who have degrees in Accountancy, Economics, Mathematics, Law, Politics etc (which are the ones you would expect and I guess are the answer to your question if you REALLY don't care what you study for three whole years of your life as long as it gets you into accountancy) but I also know accountants who have degrees in Zoology, Chemistry and various languages. You will need a slightly different answer to the question "what made you want to become an accountant", that's all. My advice to you on a personal level would be to study something that you enjoy and also to bear in mind that you will be doing accountancy for 45 years so there is no need to rush into it at 18 when it will still be there waiting for you at 21. This is your chance to do something a bit different before you settle! In addition, try to get some decent holiday work experience and/or extra-curricular activities that will give you something to talk about at interviews and also demonstrate skills that people look for in an employee such as the ability to work in a team, handle responsibility etc. At the firm I work for, we look for 2:1 graduates in something academic at a University with a good reputation (as I said above). We also require good grades at English and Maths at GSCE level. There is also a numeracy test to pass before you get offered an interview. So if you're not naturally good with numbers you might want to study some Maths just to be sure that you will pass it.
Answer 5 :
You need to get a B.B.A degree with as many hours of accounting you can get: Elementary Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Auditing, Business Law, governmental accounting, and cost accounting. It would also help to get an MBA degree, but after taking all those courses for my BBA, I only took one accounting course in my MBA courses.
Answer 6 :
Any business school will offer a BA in accounting.
