i am self employed and going bankrupt do i have to tell my accountant?

Wouldn't your accountant have a pretty good idea anyway. Surely that's one reason you employ him in the first place. To keep an eye on your accounts. It would be advisable anyway. He may be able to help & put you on the right track.

Looking at this from another angle, how come your accountant allowed you to get into the position of going bankrupt !

If you accountant was any good they would know you were heading for bankrupcy but in any case I think your accountant would be the first person you would want to talk to as they can give you advice and may be able to stop you going bankrupt.
